(I buy so much house paint at Sherwin Williams that I'm known there by name!)

I remember sitting on the sofa off to the left side of the first photograph and making a mental note that the wall color was the perfect match to the antique gold frame surrounding that mirror.Mark D. At the very least I've saved the photo, and I can try and experiment with a colour match/samples. But the photos have confirmed an idea I've been musing over for about 2 months.JChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09831757279235998895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-148647148793397155.post-46156455719653170112011-11-09T20:34:26.480-05:002011-11-09T20:34:26.480-05:00Hi, JC -

They do come across as you see them, in part because there's a lot of light flooding in, and in part because the walls are expansive and 12-15 feet high. These rooms would appear much darker and browner were they smaller and the lighting not as direct.

I will do my best to get a color name for you ...Mark D. Is there any chance you could track down/ask about what the paint colour is? I'd be eternally grateful.

And what a gorgeous place. I love the tall doorways with the transoms, and the rather understated white-painted fireplaces. The brick wall is also what really "makes" the room though.JChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09831757279235998895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-148647148793397155.post-32325856149042136732011-11-09T17:56:23.290-05:002011-11-09T17:56:23.290-05:00Hi, Yvette - Yes, it's also so nice to have a ...Hi, Yvette - Yes, it's also so nice to have a home base when you're in an unfamiliar city.Mark D. My next posting will give a sense of the great use of color in New Orleans, so stay tuned.

Stefan, there'll be an architectural posting coming up for you.

Gina, I made two trips to Cafe Du Monde, and had six huge beignets.
