Merry Christmas!

Dear Blogging Friends,

For the past couple of years, I've been collecting antique glass ornaments that are all silver or gold pine cones. Here's a close-up of this year's tree — wouldn't it be interesting to know the stories these old ornaments could tell!?

I wish you a Merry Christmas!

  2. Hello Mark, Your specialty in ornaments is perfect, combining nature, antiques, blown glass, and the humorous appropriateness of mercury-glass pine cones hanging on the pine tree--everything to like. Have a very Happy Holiday,

    1. Hello, Jim,

I made a very conscious decision to limit the glass pine cones to silver and gold, though a couple of them are losing their mercury coloring and becoming transparent. That suits me, too.

I'm wishing you a happy holiday season there in Taiwan, and I imagine that you will experience some additional Asian festivites.

  3. Dear Mark, Yes, I also love the pretty green ribbon and most especially I like the addition of the pearls. What makes your pine cones so special is the variance in color and of course their history. If we only could take a little peek into the past.
    Merry Christmas Mark..

    1. Dear Gina,

Because my tree is now limited to antique pine cones, I am supplimenting each year's display with a different color theme of plain round balls and ribbon. Last year it was blue, this year green, and next year will be a different color theme. And of course I can change the type of ribbon every year, though I almost always go for grosgrain.

Merry Christmas to you and Gene.

    1. Dear Anyes,

I was lucky to cull many of the pine cones from one very large collection. When I looked this year, I found them higher priced, so I guess I will be collecting one at a time!

I'm wishing you and your family a happy rest-of-the-season, and an equally happy 2015!
