I'll Be Home for Christmas

If Only In My Dreams

  1. The story that must be behind this card! It is a pity that Charles could not even tell Mother where he was!

  2. Oh, this card makes me feel weepy. Poor Charles! It's so interesting how the card is worded, "somewhere in France". You have such wonderful ephemera Mark. Thanks for sharing!

  3. I admire the mellow colour and delicate, modest artwork of this card. It says much about the taste of the time, the purpose of the card, and the situation/circumstances of sender and recipient.

I have a collection of vintage/ antique postcards, and I find that they have a charm and sweetness often lacking in the large, modern, glitter and foil greeting cards of our time.

    What a poignant Christmas memory....

  4. Thank you David, H.H. and Terry!

This is indeed the most poignant Christmas card I've ever seen, and I, too, would love to know the full story. There's nothing on the back.
